She starts with shotokan karate lessons under the wings of her father, after a crime spike in her neighborhood. She is trained in karate, kung fu (Wushu and Shaolin Eagle claw), taekwondo, muay thai and grappling. She trains also in the use of martial arts weapons (fencing, firearms, Chinese broad sword, whip chain). She earned her black belt in karate on her 17th and travels a lot to participate at state, national and international tournaments.
She was invited for the World Karate Championships in Japan when her teammate broke her arm during the tournament. She said: ‘I’ll fight twice! and won the two fights which results in receiving the Most Outstanding Competitor Award as reward. Her performance was never done before in the Australian karate history.
She decides to move to Hong Kong in order to become a kung-fu-film star after her parents suggest to finish her biomedical science study. She did special training in Melbourne and Hong Kong in order become member of the Hong Kong Stuntman's Association.
She found work as bouncer at a disco called Club Manhattan in Hong Kong after a difficult start of her movie career. She stands at the door with the sense that there are better opportunities for her. The turning point came a few months later, when Planet Hollywood was opened in Hong Kong. She's instructor for D.A.R.T (Defense And Restraint Tactics) and I.L.E.T.A (International Law Enforcement Training Agency). She is an specialist in close protection procedures, who has an exposed-weapons permit. She follows tactical training classes and trains in a regimen of serious bodyguard trainings. She shoots at shooting range ''The Firing-Line'' in Burbank in order to keep her weapons skills sharp.

She made her action movie debut as Kitty next to Simon Yam and Elaine Lui in ''Live Hard'' (1989). Liberian terrorists blow a bus up in Hong Kong, what results in the death of the son of the American consul. The Hong Kong Police Force sends Lui Yung (played by Jang Lee Hwang) and his team of special agents to investigate the case in order to destroy the terrorist group. Senior Inspector Hui Tat-ming (played by Simon Yam) of the Regional Crime Unit is discontented by the fact that he is no longer in charge of the case, since it has been transferred to the Politics Department. Hui secretly investigates alone to track down the terrorists in order to bring them to justice.
